For evening school, we had to make a map starting from the building of Syntra West to a company in Ghent. I chose for Ikea because I like the simple logo and the house colors.

Offcourse the map had to be original and not an ordinary map as you can find on the internet. After some brainstorming I finally found an original concept, at least I think. I tried to make my map look like a manual, because everybody knows the manuals from Ikea. You have to admit: who has never made a closet or a table from Ikea with the manual in front of you and your hands in your hair

Recently, I started participating with design contests. I really enjoy this, because it is a good exercise for me and the best of all, I can earn some extra money if I win them! And yes, the final part of that sentence came true because I have won my first contest.

The assignment was to make a logo for a TV station. I tried to keep it clean and modern, because the target group is young people. This was my (winning) entry:

The Event

Another hobby of me, next to designing, is watching series. A couple of evenings in the week I lay down in bed with a glass of beer next to me and one of my favourite series on the screen. The ones I really like are: Dexter, The Event, Supernatural, Prison Break, Persons Unknown, True Blood, Heroes, Flashforward, Jericho, No Ordinary Family, …

The last one I started watching is “The Event” and I have to admit, I adore it! I have now seen 3 episodes and I can’t wait to watch the rest.

SYNOPSIS

The Event is an emotional, high-octane conspiracy thriller that follows Sean Walker (Jason Ritter, “The Class”), an everyman who investigates the mysterious disappearance of his would-be fiancée Leila (Sarah Roemer, “Disturbia”), and unwittingly begins to expose the biggest cover-up in U.S. history.

Sean’s quest will send ripples through the lives of an eclectic band of strangers, including newly elected U.S. President Elias Martinez (Golden Globe nominee Blair Underwood, “In Treatment”); Sophia Maguire (Emmy Award nominee Laura Innes, “ER”), who is the leader of a mysterious group of detainees; and Leila’s shadowy father (Scott Patterson, “Gilmore Girls”). It’s been a while since I posted something on my blog, but here it is. I had the honour to make the design for Bang The Night. A party organised by my friend DNA Killerz. I tried to use some new techniques in it and I have to admit I’m pretty satisfied with the result!

Who is Xcentrik?

So, my name is Kevin Maeckelbergh and I am a 23 years old boy who lives in West-Flanders and who loves the world of graphic design.
